Munkey Warfare Official Site

I really don't think that I can take this on myself. Ok, so the levels I can do easily along with weapons models. I'm fine with the artistic side of things, but for this game to go big, it needs coders and someone to make characters.

It's no use hijacking codes from UDK and what came with it.

Before I launch a recruitment thread, I wonder if any of you have got suggestions on how many people I may need, I have ten weapons that need coding, a large task in itself, and multiplayer that needs setting up.

Then the characters need creating. I had a crack at it myself, but there's only so much you can do from Youtube tutorials.

I'd say two coders (or one very good one) and someone to design and create characters. To code characters, if that person could do that then that may also help.

And an audio engineer may be somehting to think about, altough I think it would be a bit pointless considering that they would only be able to make a few tracks of music.

I've just finished making the first five weapon models. There are no materials yet, and I'd say that they look quite good! Even better, I've just uploaded five pictures of them. Just go to Gallery>Screenshots>Development. Earlier problems with the pictures have been surpassed.

Well well well... the level, Desert, is about done. I've just today applied height fog, post processing and done some light builds. And it looks great. I've just put up 11 screens (Gallery>Screenshots>Levels) of the level so you can see for yourself how it looks. The only things that need doing are a collision radius round the level to stop players "wandering," some small detail rocks to be dotted about and some trees around the water hole. These will all come at a later date, but until then I'm going to do some work on the site (ie. replace dismal header) and then work on skeletal meshes.

Wow, it's amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it... I've just uploaded some screens of a cave. Well, actually, It's a mine in the middle of my new level, and it looks about done. I also think I'll ditch my first level Construction ... I'll treat it as an experiment and will try to attain the standard I've just put in the latest level because of a bit of experience.

I'm now announcing the second level to my game! It is going to be a desert that is essentially an open valley with strategically placed ruined buildings. I hope it will take about 1 and 1/2 months to develop, I would have said 1 but I have exams coming up soon.

Back from my holiday now and I'm re-starting my project.

Over my holiday I couldn't help think about future stages in development, in particular how I'm going to make/get music for my game.

Being a gamer I know how boring silence is (infact I'm listening to music now) and I've been wondering what programs I could use. Sibelius seems a bit inappropriate but something called Reason (just google them) may be useful. I'm relying on the UDK forums to begin to point me the right way.

I've been very busy recently with my custom characters, and I'm plaesed to announce that the Gorilla has come out in beta. The textures need some work but apart from that it's great! I hope to bring you some in-game screens but I am away next week in Italy, so there may be a wait.

I'd also like to thank UnspoiledWalnut for generally helping me and Geodav for making some great tutorials.

I have just finished uploading the first video and screenshots of the level construction. It is still a beta and so the level has no normals yet, but the gameplay and general idea are the same as the end product. I am also still using the default UDK character. Just head over to the gallery to see them.

I'm starting today my project to create custom characters. Being a game based around Monkeys, I'm making 3(possibly 4) controllable characters. I've managed to start designing the first (Gorilla.) Below is a useful list of each character and their place in the game.

Gorillas- strong, mainly melee attacks. Vulnerable to grenades.
Chimpanzees- clever and so use defense, vulnerable to melee.
Orangutangs*- Use projectiles to their advantage. Can't cope with superior defense of Chimps.
Baboons*- Use grenades to harass large groups. Vulnerable to the longer-range Orangutang weapons.

* I may single one of these out depending on time.

Also, sorry if your waiting for screens, I've had setbacks. Will release tomorrow or Tuesday hopefully.

The more observant of you may have noticed that I haven't posted in quite a while. This is mainly because I have been very busy recently. Particularily with the first level. I can tell you that this first level is based around a construction site, and so far, as a teaser, I have created 3 out of 4 tower blocks, a basement, 2 operating lifts and a building hut. I hope to release screens and maybe even a video walkthrough VERY soon*.

*Next few days
